Composition
PGY® is a homogeneous mixture of:
-

Thanks to this formula, it is hand-moldable, rollable, textured, and even suitable for potter's wheel techniques.
Compatibility
You can integrate it with:

-
Previously tested natural stones
-
Glass, ceramic and porcelain beads
-
Other Prometheus® metal clays, which allow you to create multi-colored pieces with surprising finishes
Cooking Process (2 Steps)
Before firing large pieces, it's recommended to test with a small sample to verify your kiln reaches the proper temperature. If necessary, adjust the final temperature by ±5% depending on the result.
Step 1: Removing the binder
-
Place the dried piece(s) on a stainless steel rack.
-
Place in a cold oven.
-
Raise the temperature to 500°C / 932°F .
-
Cook for 15 minutes .
-
Remove and let cool on a heat-resistant surface.
Step 2: Cooking on activated charcoal
-
Add 3 cm of activated charcoal to the bottom of a steel container.
-
Place the pieces at least 1.5 cm apart .
-
Cover completely with more charcoal and cover the container.
-
Place in a preheated oven at 800°C / 1470°F .
-
Cook for 1 hour .
-
Cool inside the oven or carefully remove for external cooling.
Finish
After cooking:
-
Gently brush the surface
-
If you notice fresnile (oxidation) , immerse the piece in a hot pickling solution
-
Finally, polish to obtain the desired shine.
