Prometheus® Troy Bronze Clay is an innovative metal clay that transforms into a solid, pure bronze after firing, providing a strong, warm, and malleable surface ideal for art, jewelry, or sculpture.
What is PTB®?
It consists of:
• Micron-sized bronze powder
• Water
• Organic binder
It allows a wide range of techniques: it can be hand-modeled , laminated , braided , textured , engraved , and even turned on a potter's wheel .
Compatibility
It can be combined with:
• Cubic zirconia (synthetic gems)
• Previously tested natural stones
• Glass beads
• Ceramics, porcelain
• Other Prometheus® metal clays
Applications
PTB® is perfect for creating:
• Personalized jewelry
• Decorative statues and sculptures
• Hollow objects, amulets, charms
• Multi-colored art pieces (when combined with other Prometheus® clays)
Recommended Cooking – Carbon Method (2 steps)
Step 1: Pre-cooking
• Place the dried pieces on a stainless steel rack .
• Place in a cold oven and allow to heat up to 500°C / 932°F .
• Cook for 15 minutes .
• Remove and let cool on a fire-resistant surface .
Step 2: Cooking on activated charcoal
• Fill the bottom of a steel container with 3 cm of activated carbon .
• Place the pieces leaving at least 1.5 cm of separation between them .
• Cover completely with more charcoal and close the container .
• Place in a preheated oven at 850°C / 1562°F .
• Once the oven reaches temperature, cook for 90 minutes .
• Cool inside the oven or on a fireproof surface.
This is the official cooking method recommended by Prometheus®.
Final finish
• Brush to remove residue.
• If firescale (rust) is present, place it in a hot pickling solution (Picklean®) and then rinse.
• Polishes to reveal the metallic luster of bronze.
