Prometheus® Troy Bronze Clay (PTB®) is an innovative metal clay that, after firing, becomes a solid, pure bronze , ideal for projects requiring high dimensional accuracy . With only 5% shrinkage , it's perfect for pieces that require near-exact measurements!

Composition

  • Micron-sized bronze powder

  • Organic binder and water

  • Malleable texture for hand modeling, laminating, texturing or turning

Material compatibility

You can use PTB® with:

  • Cubic zirconia (synthetic gems)

  • Pre-tested natural stones

  • Glass beads

  • Ceramics, porcelain

  • Other Prometheus® metal clays

Cooking – Carbon Method (recommended)

Estimated total shrinkage: only 5%

Step 1 – Pre-cooking

  • Place the dried pieces on a stainless steel rack .

  • Place the rack in a cold oven and heat to 500°C / 932°F .
    You can also use a gas or electric stove.

  • Cook for 15 minutes .

  • Remove and let cool on a heat-resistant surface.

Step 2 – Final cooking

  • Add 3 cm of activated charcoal to the bottom of a steel container.

  • Place the pieces at least 1.5 cm apart .

  • Cover completely with charcoal, close the container .

  • Place in a preheated oven at 850 °C / 1560 °F .

  • When it reaches the target temperature again, cook for 90 minutes .

  • Allow to cool inside the oven or on a fireproof surface.

Note: This method ensures optimal sintering and maximum strength of the bronze.

Finish

  • Brush after cooking.

  • Use a stripper

  • Buff to desired shine.
